
On Thursday, 31 October 2024 Office of the Executive Mayor Cllr. Gregory Nthatisi in partnership with Motsepe Foundation gave an early Christmas to 9831 children in Mangaung.
The initiative was a celebration for children by the Executive Mayor as part of his commitment, to enhancing the corporate social responsibility across the City together with Motsepe Foundation.
Director Matlala from the Foundation said the theme for this year is called “Christmas with our people”, it is an initiative for those from the disadvantaged backgrounds, it was stopped in 2020 due to the Covid-19 Pandemic and has now commenced as from 2024. The donations have been in place for Christmas for a decade, it is the commitment from the Motsepe family to children across the country.
The early Christmas gifts included the food packages and toys for children both male and female. MMC for Finance Cllr. Logan Kruger said “It is important to acknowledge the presence of small children in our communities as future leaders, it takes a village to raise a child and we thank Motsepe Foundation for partnering with the City.”
The events took place in Bloemfontein, Thaba-Nchu,Botshabelo,Soutpan, Wepener, Dewetsdorp and Vanstadensrus respectively. Motsepe Foundation is committed to spreading love towards the festive season across the entire country through the foundation in partnership with different municipalities.
Chief of Staff Mr. Zolile Mangcotywa from Office of the Executive Mayor thanked the Foundation for their commitment and for collaborating with the City, it shows confidence and appreciation to the administrative and political leadership of Mangaung Metro.
“The pattern of love and kindness shown by Motsepe Foundation is an example for all Mangaung residents to start spreading love to those in need in the City,” said Mangcotywa.
