Destea and National Tourism Officially Launched Godumodumo Dinasour Interpretation Centre

On the 22 of June, 2025 Minister of Tourism Patricia De Lille, Deputy Minister  Makhotso Sotyu and MEC for Destea Toto Makume officially opened Godumodumo Dinosaur Interpretation Centre at the Golden Gate in Clarens and handed it over to South African National Parks.

The Minister said they worked hand in hand with Free State Provincial Government and Destea to make this center a reality. “We worked tirelessly as the department of Tourism, we even went as far as The European Union to seek funding to complete all the research and infrastructure for the museum and it must serve as a tourism attraction in Free State.

MEC Toto added that the Golden Gate Site, still has a lot of discoveries, and research is still continuing to discover more as the last Species of the Dinosaurs died and their revolution ended in the Free State,  and that should be an indication for all residents in Thabo Mofutsanayna and broader Free State to think out of the box to bring economic activities at the Museum as part of creation of employment.

The Kgodumodumo Dinosaur Interpretation Centre in the Free State officially opened its doors, offering free entrance to tourists and South African public until 30 September 2025.
