‘ANC Must Allow Flow of Ideas’

By Teboho Khoarane

On 18 May, 2025 The Provincial Secretary of the ANC In Free State Polediso Motsoeneng delivered Duma Nokwe lecture at Lesley Monnanyane Hall, in Bloemfontein.

He opened his lecture, by saying the issue of holding unconstitutional ANC Branch general meetings will not continue to happen, as that results in the compromise of identifying quality members that can take the party forward.

“The public and the media have portrayed the ANC as the party that harbours illiterates, and that gives the public a negative image and perception about the leadership we entrust to take the party and government forward in terms of service delivery, incoming leadership from wards especially ward councillors need to be independent thinkers that can take decisions guided by the ANC constitution to address challenges communities face on the ground on a daily basis”.

“We know that from the inception of the of ANC in 1912, the party is known to have produced intelligent and educated members, that still need to continue to pave a positive way and help the embattled membership embroiled in factions. Some of these factions have contributed significantly to overlooking the quality of leadership, even during the selection of leaders that are going to be suggested for the Local Government Elections in 2026”, said Motsoeneng.

He further emphasized that African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) have no excuse of not being educated, they should lead by example with academics being the centre of growth, to safeguard the interests of the ANC and the coming generation by demonstrating the importance of Education.

“We all have to feel safe that ANCYL will hold the country forth in terms of leadership, and that they can lead this country to a better state than it is today”, concluded Motsoeneng.
