By Teboho Khoarane

On Monday 16 December, 2024 Mangaung Metro’s Executive Mayor hosted the interfaith with all religious leaders in Mangaung at Indoor Sports Centre in Bloemfontein.

The interfaith started last year, as a day set by the City, to gather in one place to pray for all challenges facing Mangaung.

“Wherever two or more people are gathered in my name in prayer,  I am there,” said MMC for Human Settlement Cllr. Ntombi Nhlapo as she opened her prayer with the interfaith hosted by the Executive Mayor. “The most challenging of all as the MMC , is that people are expecting turn around services instantly, and without prayer we cannot do it all, it is important to have stakeholders to help us in prayer to run the City Effectively we cannot win,” said Nhlapo.

Deputy Executive Mayor Cllr. Lulama Titi-Odili stated, that it is important for the residents of Mangaung to work hand in hand with the municipality, to help it identify key areas affecting service delivery, and that should be the work done by Ward Councilors irrespective of the difficulties the City finds itself in sometimes.

The MMC for engineering and infrastructure, Cllr. Vusi Sogaqa added by first apologizing to the City for the recent water challenges and the turn around time which the City is working tirelessly to address effectively as the challenge is also an impact of climate change and scarcity. “ We have received a decline of water Supply from Katse Dam in Lesotho, as some of our water supply comes from there, and resulted in water supply  interruptions. We have also added the capacity this festive season, as we know the City experience high usage of water due to festive season holidays,” concluded Sogaqa.
