By Teboho Khoarane

As part of continuous awareness about Separation at Source in Mangaung, Education and awareness on Tuesday 08 September, 2024 visited Mothusi Primary School in Bloemfontein and Ratau Primary school in Thaba-Nchu.

The purpose of the visit was to hand over  Wooden Separation at Source Bins donated by External stakeholder Polyco One Million Plus. Their interest is to partner with municipality across the city to continue awareness in different towns. The wooden bins consists of 2 sections of Plastic and other Recyclables and the other one which is Wet Waste and Biodegradable Waste.

The handover was led Agnes Mphosi Education and Awareness Officer, Popi Ntshiuwa Manager of Thaba Nchu Solid Waste and Acting GM: for Solid Waste Gloria Mohlakoana. “Make sure that all recyclables items are squashed such as plastic bottles to create space in the bins, other waste such as food can be thrown into the other section as this forms part of our ongoing education and awareness about separating waste,” said Agnes.

Both schools thanked the dedicated municipal officials about this awareness as it helps to educate both young and old about the environmental health hazards.
